As the Branches of Time series comes to its conclusion, we move between the years 1848, 1908, 1945, and back. We watch as our favorite characters try to solve their dilemmas, only to create more.

Rem is in 1945 where he is recovering from a serious accident. The physical recovery is going well, but will he be able to retrieve his memories of his life and the wife who has left him? Frustrations build on all fronts as Ellie and Karl try to jar Rem’s memory, but nothing happens.
Colt is traveling on Lake Michigan in 1848 with Lana, and a young boy named Silas, who has become like a family member to them. As they travel north along the shoreline with a goal of arriving at Beaver Island, they must make a few stops along the way, but they are determined that nothing will slow them down in finding their way to the Barlowe cabin where Colt is eager to have his ‘family’ spend the winter. But that might not be the case.
Skye is in 1908 trying to adjust to being a single woman again. She is becoming closer to her friend, Micah, with every passing day, but she’s determined to be independent. Micah is deeply in love with her, but Skye is not sure whether she is ready to make a commitment again. Something is holding her back.
Will Colt and Lana figure out who Silas is and how it affects their family?
Will Rem finally regain his memories of the woman he loved and lost?
Will Skye be with Micah in the way he wants, forever changing the direction of her life?
These are the mysteries that will come to a shocking conclusion, pulling it all together in one fell swoop, in The Grist Mill.
Along the vein of Diana Gabaldon’s historical series, Outlander, this time-travel series traversed several decades in different centuries, taking on many events in Michigan’s history while incorporating a great love story, but in the end there is only one time that is important -- the one that started it all.
