He bent over to kiss my hand, and my father didn’t even complain or stop him. He smelled rather sour, and although he was nicely dressed, I had to wonder what that smell was from. “Josephine, Ned here is going to school for embalming. He finishes in the spring,” my father bragged. I smiled and nodded and then paused. “Oh, what for?” I asked, feeling my stomach lurch up into my throat. “Embalming.
