The stuffed coffin by Dieter Moitzi

When you think you’re going to spend two peaceful weeks in a sleepy hole in Greece… and stumble upon murder. Maybe even upon Love with a capital L…

Levkos in the northern Peloponnese—a dozy and bucolic village, salty breezes, the smells of maritime pines, cypresses, lemon, fig and olive trees hanging in the air... If you've just experienced a painful breakup, this is the perfect place where to lick your wounds, think, and chill. Damien Drechsler, expert translator of detective novels, has come here on a two-week-vacation to do exactly that.

But things don't go to plan. The very first night, Damien meets Nikos, a handsome young local who seduces him on a lonesome beach. And when walking back to the hotel, Damien is almost killed by a reckless driver.

The next day he learns that an old man from the village has been run over on the same country road where his near-accident has occurred. His curiosity piqued, he starts to investigate and discovers that the old man's death looks very suspect. That’s when everything seems to go wrong. He stumbles upon a well-endowed nudist who tries to seduce him; then, a handsome Greek triggers off a misunderstanding with far-reaching consequences; and last but not least, there's Nikos, his new friend, who makes him more and more confused. Worse, a lady tourist dies of cardiac arrest when she goes for a midnight swim in the hotel swimming pool. Damien barely can believe it—she seemed in perfectly good shape the day before…

Unconventional and sometimes impulsive, Damien tries to unravel all these odd puzzles. But what with an hostile police inspector, an unpleasant sports activity leader who disappears all of a sudden, and Nikos who ditches him just as he starts to accept his growing feelings for the young man, he’s hard put to stay afloat.

Will Damien be able to discover what’s behind all those accidents? Can he solve the puzzle? Is there a chance he'll make up with Nikos?
