Regency England, 1821. After many years of friendship, Margaret Wilson's role as personal companion to Harriet Benson is at an end following a silly misunderstanding; Harriet has ordered her out of her home and never wants to see her again. Harriet's husband Charles urgently seeks a reconciliation between the pair; he has an ulterior motive, as his marriage is in crisis and Margaret is the only woman who can satisfy his personal needs.
