The crowd rose to their feet with applause and I bowed. The curtains closed and with a deep breath and shivers of delight, I quickly escaped with my fellow musicians to the dressing rooms. “I will wait out here for you,” I heard a familiar voice say and I turned with an impatient sigh. It was Jackson Carey, the young man from my hometown in Crawford. Jackson had won a scholarship the same night as I had. My family had asked him to escort me to the conservatory two years ago.
